we just got sent this demo from toby aka ‘shoes and socks off’.
this is his initial sketch for his cover of ‘now i’m exhausted’ for the braid tribute album. some of you may also know toby as the lead singer in the mindsmashing, aeroplane flying, groupie loving, dog walking, booger picking, shoes and socks wearing, uk math group ‘meet me in st louis’.

we are ecstatic and overjoyed and very excited to hear that braid have gotten back together to record a new album.
anybody might have thought we’d planned it this way, that we knew they were getting back together and that’s why we decided to do this tribute album, to cash in on that.
but that’s not true. in fact, we think they got so excited by the news of the tribute album they just had to get back together. actually, that’s not very likely either.
whatever, it’s wonderful news and we look forward to hearing the new stuff as well as all the new versions of old songs that will be on the tribute!!

we did approach motion city about contributing to the braid tribute album, but no dice.
that jawbox reissue if fucking great, if you’ve not heard it - highly recommended. bob weston did an incredible job with the remaster!

stapleton’s singer, al paxton, will hopefully be contributing to the braid tribute album in his solo project ‘metronomes’. if you’ve not heard stapleton before, i can not recommend and band higher!!

kind of like spitting - happy?
so yeah, ben barnett aka ‘kind of like spitting’ will be working on a (new) braid cover for the tribute (double) album. ben’s first show was with braid, and he can also be seen rocking out during a stage invasion on the ‘killing a camera’ braid documentary. he will be reworking ‘do you like coffee’.
